Immediate Restoration of Dental Implants
Our office utilizes a procedure known as “immediate loading” to predictably and immediately replace missing teeth.
Teeth In An Hour/Day is a relatively new buzz-word in dentistry. It is based on the use of dental implants for replacing missing or to-be-extracted teeth. It is fast becoming a popular marketing phrase that is used to attract potential patients based on its promoted ability to save time and office visits.
At its simplest, “teeth in a day” can mean replacing a single tooth via an implant-supported-crown, and doing so in one day. This usually means placing a dental implant and, at the same appointment, providing a temporary (acrylic) crown that is attached to an implant. The plastic crown is replaced by a more durable, final crown at a later date.
A larger, yet still simple form of such treatment involves converting an entire jaw with few or no teeth to a jaw with a full set of fixed, implant supported teeth. Usually, the initially placed teeth are temporary and are replaced by the final set of higher quality and more durable teeth at a later date. This treatment approach has many values when properly applied.
Remarkably, patients respond to extraction, implant placement and restoration in the same appointment with little to no swelling, discomfort or interruption of their daily life.
Dr. Gouldin has a special interest in this concept of immediate provisionalization, or immediate loading. He has trained with some of the world’s pioneers in this field, and his is one of the first offices in the area to offer this service to his patients. Dr. Gouldin has lectured on this topic locally, and has sponsored multiple seminars to further educate himself and his restoring dentist colleagues on the merits of this exciting technique.
