Matisse said: "Paint what you love". I love flowers. I love flowers in the field, in a vase, vying for attention in crowded borders, hiding in nooks, floating, billowing, exotic or wild. I respond to their joyful color, movement and light. I'm challenged in each painting to create a glimmer of beauty and a bit of transcendence to nourish the spirit.

A native Washingtonian, I lived for many years in Alexandria and Capitol Hill, and have been exhibiting my work since the early 70's. In my career, I've been involved with the Art World through a number of diverse experiences gallery owner, teacher & artist. I had a studio at the Torpedo Factory, and have been associated with the Northern Virginia Art League and Capitol Hill Art League. Workshops & travel in Europe and Asia have broadened my sensibilities and craft. In Fredericksburg, VA, where I now live, I have had multiple solo shows and was recently chosen to exhibit in the Fredericksburg Area Museum initiating their Community Artist Series. My work is included in public and private collections nationally and internationally. My studio is at Libertytown Arts Workshop in Fredericksburg.
