Dr. Carlos talks about Traditional Gum Surgery vs Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique
Have you noticed changes in your smile, such as longer-looking teeth or tooth discoloration? Gum recession may be to blame. Gum recession is characterized by tissue that shrinks away from the teeth, exposing the delicate root surfaces below. If you have signs or symptoms of gum recession, please contact our team today for a treatment consultation. We offer advanced treatment known as the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique – a minimally invasive procedure that is virtually pain-free and delivers predictable results at our Falls Church and Alexandria, VA locations.
Certified and trained by the inventor himself, Dr. Garrett Gouldin and Dr. Francisco Carlos are excited to offer Alexandria and Falls Church, VA, patients the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique, the modern, minimally invasive gum recession treatment option. We begin the procedure by creating a small pinhole-sized opening in the gum, near areas of recession. Using expert technique, we insert patented instruments through this opening and gently loosen the gum tissues. Our doctors then reposition the gum tissue to a healthier level on the teeth and secure the new position with small strips of collagen. Patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding), and most patients are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement. The Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique can take as little as a few minutes per tooth, and perhaps most importantly, multiple teeth may be treated at the same time, allowing patients to have healthy gums and esthetically appealing gumlines with minimum inconvenience.
Drs. Gouldin and Carlos are Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology who are dedicated to bringing the most up-to-date gum recession care to the Alexandria and Falls Church, VA, community. Traditional gum grafting is still recommended for treating certain cases of gum recession. Grafting procedures correct gum recession by attaching tissue samples from your own mouth or other sources over receded areas. Many patients, however, choose the Pinhole Surgical Technique as a less invasive alternative to restoring a receding gum line. By returning the gums to a healthier level, the Pinhole Surgical Technique rejuvenates your smile for a younger-looking you.
